our commitment to

sustainability

The impact on the environment is a primary issue for our society and our goal is to extend the life cycle of our products as much as possible, also reducing waste and polluting wastes. To achieve this objective, the design study, the use of energy sources with a low pollution content, preferably renewable, the use of efficient plants and above all the choice of recyclable raw materials and, if possible, reusable.

our yarns

That’s why LCS uses natural yarns, such as pure virgin wool, especially alpaca or New Zealand, which makes the finished product extremely durable, stain resistant and sound-absorbing. This yarn, which is recyclable and requires low energy consumption for its processing, has also obtained the LEED-Leadership certification in Energy and Enivironmental Design.
The synthetic yarns used by LCS are all made from recycled or re-used waste materials, such as Econyl©, a regenerated nylon obtained from recycled fishing nets and other discarded articles that has the same qualities as new nylon. Our viscose is obtained from cellulose obtained by working natural raw materials (straw, cotton, wood pulp derived from different types of plants) using a mix of chemical components: is a biodegradable material and its waste can be recycled to obtain high quality yarns.

few wastes

Another sustainability factor is the reduction of waste and scrap from processing. Our technical department already in the design phase, to define cutting and stitching patterns that minimize the necessary surplus of the chosen material.
In the case of handmade production, the wastage is reduced to zero.

colors and sustainability

Finally, the sustainable production approach includes the choice and use of colours to decorate the artefacts according to the specific project. These colors comply with the Green Label + standards and are in accordance with the guidelines of ETAD – Ecological and Toxicology Association of Dyes and Organic Pigments Manufacturers regarding the containment of heavy metals in the preparation of pigments and organic dyes, and the elimination of azo and aminoazonbenzene insoluble in water. We also offer custom collections and products that do not use color as a decorative support
